Election 2012: Debates

18 Oct

What are the first adjectives that come to mind when you think of a President or Vice President? A few that comes to my mind: poise, class, highly intelligent and Pro-America.

Watching these debates I am slowly losing my mind on how awful these candidates are acting. The most appalling to watch was the Vice Presidential debate between Biden and Ryan. Vice President Joe Biden acted like a defeated immature high school boy. He’s actions did not represent what a Vice President of a country should act like. Although, he’s actions were disrespectful yet he was getting praised from his party. To be honest, I’m not even sure what came out of Biden or Ryan’s mouth but all I remember was Biden’s facial expressions, constantly interrupting Ryan and laughing. I’m sorry I sort of lost the memo that our country’s fate is not struggling and this is some joking manner.

The best part about this debate is when I spoke to people that agreed that Biden won – I asked, why? They said he dominated the answers and stood his ground. I’m not sure what they saw or heard but I clearly did not see that. His actions were far from dominating the debate. Maybe if he was a part of a three-ring circus then, yes, I would agree Biden won. However, this was a debate regarding our country. There needs to have some more poise and class displayed by the candidates. What dumbfounded me the most was the fact that the people who supports Obama/Biden, mentioned that how’s Biden acts – “You expect that from him.”

Again, I’m sorry – I didn’t vote you into office last term; why should I vote you into office again? Do I feel you deserve to be Vice President of the United States of America? No, I think he is far from capable of running a country. My teachers in high school used to say, your actions will perceive you. Heads up Biden, your actions were despicable and Obama should have actually cringed on how terrible you represented him and this country.

Long story short, I attended a friend of mine’s law school class last Saturday during my visit. The professor started off with the class asking if we watched the debate, who thought Biden won and who thought Ryan won. After the class was done being involved, the professor preceded to go on about how lawyers use the tactic in court of laughing, smirking, making comments and he told the class that is NOT how to act in court. That is NOT professional and it makes you look bad. The professor mentioned that he witnessed many attorneys act like that and most of them don’t do well because most judges or jury don’t remember what was said but the way he acted. After he was done ranting over Biden’s awful behavior, I looked at my friend (who bleeds blue) and whispered, “I told you.”

This is 2012, the 21st century, we are in different times yet we are still in the same spot where we were decades ago. We all still live on the principles of being professional in the workplace and having some poise and class to go behind that. Even though, my generation is more relaxed than our parent’s generation we still have the same standards of professionalism that needs to be displayed when you are in some form of leadership (i.e. CFO, President of a company, business owner, or President or Vice President of USA).

Therefore, our differences make the world go round, especially when it comes down to politics but in the end we are still a part of America and WE elect these public officials to represent us as a whole. We are the laughing stock of our global community and I don’t expect that to change especially with Biden being in office.

“I have binders full of women… “

18 Oct

Mostly all of the Democrat women I have came into contact with are finding Gov. Romney’s comment offensive. But why? The pre-context mentioned that his intentions (as Gov) were to get more women in higher leadership roles. Personally, I didn’t find that offensive, I found  it empowering.

Women, WE are the reason why WE (as a gender) CAN’T get passed the glass ceiling. We keep making comments that oppress’ our gender. So why must we make these types of comments?  What I find baffling is the fact these Democrat women making these statements constantly ask me when am I involved in a party that goes against women’s right? Though, I find it funny these women don’t want “these” politicians to dictate what they can and cannot do with their body. However, they are okay with making comments that oppress our gender. Make jokes that a man wanted to see women presented in government leadership positions. I don’t see anything wrong with that at all. Do you? Romney sought out women organizations that provided him “binders full of women” who were highly qualified for leadership roles. How can anyone, especially women, find that offensive?

To answer the previous question above asked by a good friend of mine, “Why/how can I be associated with a party that wants to remove women’s rights issues?”

Here’s my answer: I am a Republican woman because I believe that if we keep up with wasteful spending, borrowing from our international community, our economy will collapse. I focus on the economy because if we can’t fund our own government agencies and organizations, our country will not be able to help support non-profit organizations like Planned Parenthood. So, those women’s right issues that everyone states a big deal over will be diminished. These social issues like welfare, SSI, etc. will be diminished too. Being a Republican doesn’t mean I don’t believe women should have the choice to decide what to do with her body because I 100% do.  Republican Party states that they are pro-life it doesn’t mean they will eliminate Roe v. Wade. So don’t get all worked up because these politicians believe something different than you. I am a Republican woman and I don’t feel any sort of being oppressed by my party. The only reason why I ever feel oppressed is the fact that us women (both parties) cannot stick up for each other. We are always the first to bash other women when they succeed.

Thus, I believe another four years of wasteful spending, implementing Obamacare and not using our natural resources – our country will fail. We are at a fragile state, full of broken promises. America will decide on November 6 and the choice is solely yours …… Choose wisely – the future is in what YOU decide.

Obama’s For Gay Marriage

10 May

First things first, sorry for my absence but it’s been a crazy month!!!!

Secondly, I must state that this is the first time I actually agreed with Obama. I am very proud that he is supporting a group of people’s constitutional rights. I don’t understand why North Carolina decided to go back 50 years with creating law that eliminates or destroys gay marriage. I think that Obama spoke at the most perfect time. I do wonder …. do you think that this may have been a political stunt since this is election year? I guess we will have to wait and see.

I read her blog regarding the similar article I wrote on “War on Women” and I felt this article should be shared.

War On Women

20 Mar

Oklahoma Personhood

I am just outraged on all the news I am reading that are targeting women’s issues: abortion, birth control and rape.  All three are being demise in many states across the nation and I feel as if this is completely ridiculous.  I understand the majority of these lawmakers are in the political party that I represent, the GOP, but the issues and preposterous statements regarding these women’s rights are wrong.

These rights have been fought by many high-strong women who felt that us, women, should have the right to make their own decision for their own body.  Why should a politician who does not know me, tell me what I can or cannot do with my body.  We don’t restrict men from anything.  Us, women, don’t limit any of their rights, so why must they belittle/demean my gender?

Currently, I feel as if the focus on the GOP presidential Debate, especially with Santorum is mostly dealing with women and birth control. Santorum, think America‘s main focus is on how to fix the economy, not if I should consult with my employer if I should take birth control or not.  These bogus statements make me so irate.  It’s like why should you limit my right on if I should or should not get an abortion. You don’t want me (women) to have an abortion then don’t bitch when you (as in government) must increase the welfare budget to accommodate the increase in children.

Furthermore, the statements that claiming rape is another method for women to seek abortions. Seriously, Idaho, your state ideology is very backwards and, most importantly, your thought process is chauvinistic. This perplexes me.  How do you know if a women was really raped?  How dare you declare that these women do this to just get what they want.  Your ignorance to the female gender if baffling and I hope you don’t get re-elected, you don’t deserve it.

I do have a solution to this abortion and birth control debate. If you (as in politicians) feel as if these two women’s rights should be eliminated then why don’t you (as a government) think of a better solution than limiting a human being’s rights. I do have a solution that would really end all abortion and birth control debates. Why doesn’t the government mandate that every male MUST receive a vasectomy which will eliminate the abortion issue; in addition to, the birth control issue. However, this would never fly in committee since the majority of politicians are males.  Why should a male have to perform this act?  A vasectomy is very safe and simple procedure PLUS it is reversible. So why not?  If you (as a government) are planning to eliminate my rights on taking birth control or abortion, but, no offense congress this is 2012. Instead of going back 6 decades with in-stating ridiculous laws, move forward.

These laws are long prohibiting advancement in our society and making our country a more socialistic society.  I really hope the women in this country start to stand up and fight for your rights.  These lawmakers are restricting your rights as a human and woman and I feel as if you don’t stand up, these politicians will use it against us (women).  I see it as an insult to the women who lost their lives fighting for our rights that we take for granted these days. Instead of worrying about Snooki and her illegitimate child, worry about the possible rights you (woman) are about to lose.  In closing, women it’s about time to standup, support one another and reverse the negativity that is going through congress. We are over half of the population in our country, we bare the numbers so less use them.

XOXO

Happy Belated St. Patrick’s Day!

19 Mar

Top o’ the evening to ya!

I hope everyone’s St. Paddy’s day was full-filled with lots of Irish cheer and green beer.

This blog will not deal with anything about my normal post about politics and current events but about the rarity of having an intelligent conversation at the bar. Today I was texting my guy friend about how great it was to actually have a conversation that isn’t regarding any IQ dropping topic (i.e. Jersey Shore or Snooki’s oompa loompa fetus) but having a conversation that really that had substance. I felt that everyone in our group was educated about many different topics but most importantly current events and politics. Most people go off by opinion but not by actual facts, however, everyone held their own.

It felt nice not getting pissed off at people’s ignorance to politics and to tell them to read a history book before acknowledging another political conversation with me. I refuse to talk to someone who has no understanding of who, what, when, and how things happened which usually gives them a different understanding of the truth. I’m not trying to sound like a know-it-all but I just can’t stand the ignorance of people, especially when it comes to politics. If I don’t know much about a topic, I won’t give my opinion because how am I suppose to share what I think when I have little to no knowledge about the topic (i.e. engineering).

I know I am cutting this blog short but I really wanted to share the importance of being an educated and intelligent person and how rewarding it is to connect intellectually with people. I feel as if society, especially my generation, is lacking communication skills since texting and facebooking has changed the entire way of life so it’s harder for these types of conversations to happen. In close, yesterday’s all day drinking day not only was full-filled with Irish cheer, green beer but a surprisingly intellectual, stimulating conversation. Thank you all!

“Docket In Your Pocket”

7 Mar

I seriously love technology and proud how far we – as a society – has come. Today my best friend’s boyfriend was sharing with us about a new iphone application called Docket In Your Pocket (cost $2.99 and so far it’s only available for Pennslyvania Residents) and it literally allows you to check anyone’s criminal background and also civil suits. Since it is all public knowledge this data base bares all. My friend and I decided to get a little curious with this application and searched ourselves. Well since neither of us has been in trouble with the law – civil or criminal – we both didn’t show up in the data base (thank god!). However, we decided to get a little more daring on the applicants that we chose. We started out with recent ex-boyfriends – guys we dated and so on and so forth. Let me tell you, this application really is informative.

I honestly believe that everyone should purchase this app – parents, women, men, anyone who is doing online dating – you need to purchase this. This application can literally save you from getting yourself into unnecessary drama or even someone who may have lied about their “innocent” past.

Living in the 21st Century we must take particular precautions and I think this application is a good start.

Here are some screen shots of the app.
